Elegance...
Elegance is a concept that doesn’t just involve looks. As Armani said “ L’eleganza non è farsi notare, ma farsi ricordare.”
So elegance isn’t about being noticed but more about how you’re being remembered.
So, how do you want to be remembered?
Coco Chanel said Elegance is when the inside is as beautiful as the outside.
It doesn’t matter if you’re trying to appear strong, successful, fit etc .. If you’re rotten inside it’s like biting into a golden but wormy apple.
A lot of people don’t seem to realize that they are toxic and they make up scenarios in their minds where they end up being the heroes, the good guys. The french actress Carole Bouquet said “Real elegance is simply a true encounter with oneself.”
So before working on your position in society, why don’t you start using that mirror you’ve been lying to for so long ?
The ugly truth can be difficult to stand. But your coping mechanisms aren’t a good excuse for being toxic. We all have traumas.
So heal.
And let others heal instead of projecting the result of childhood insecurities, need for affection, fame. THE EGO. Again...
That traumatized inner child shouldn’t be bullying you into being a façade anymore. Grow up. Face your actions, they do have consequences.
Henry Fielding believes that “A truly elegant taste is generally accompanied with an excellency of heart.” Well I am proud to say today that when I look at the mirror and deep inside myself, I can now smile.
I used to be toxic too. I made a lot of mistakes, went to hell and back (and i still visit, i mean ofc). But now I can say that I’ve been working hard on myself and I am in a place in my life where I haven’t harmed or did anything that goes against my values for years now.
But as Oscar de la Renta wisely said “Elegance is a discipline of life.” So beware, hell is paved with “good intentions”. Face your demons and be kind, compassionate. Listen instead of talking. Hear. Don’t just listen. Be humble.
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
